For the first North American outpost for the ultra-luxury Ritz Carlton Reserve brand, a visionary client and a dream team of design talent came together to co-create a game changing spa experience that continually receives awards, accolades and Forbes’ coveted 5-star rating.
Involved at the earliest stages of site planning and programming and continuing with our ongoing mentorship role, the spa is a five acre wonderland that celebrates wellness through nature and a deep sense of place, maintaining seamless integration with the lush outdoor environment throughout each and every facility component.
The experience begins within the Shade House, an arresting transition and decompression space filled with local botanicals that are actively transformed into indigenous healing remedies. Purification Gardens are lush al fresco playgrounds for hydrotherapy and contrast-bathing, featuring an extensive collection of pools and thermal experiences to jumpstart the body’s natural healing power. Free-standing pavilions and the spa’s iconic treehouses are sublime backdrops for transformative spa services, while a variety of indoor and outdoor lounge environments encourage guests to linger in scenic splendor.
Teaming with local experts with deep knowledge and passion for the healing-arts culture of Puerto Rico, the spa’s treatment program was inspired by the island’s traditional healers (Manos Santas) who utilize natural remedies and logistic modalities to care for their local communities before the advent of modern medical practices. This legacy is reflected throughout the service offerings and carried into the spa’s brand partnerships and signature amenity products.
