Moving outside the home base of North America, The Sanya EDITION is the brand’s first outpost in Asia. It was also our first foray into the Chinese market, where size and scale really do matter.

During the planning process, we set out to create a leading-edge resort spa environment, equally attuned to local sensibility, modern luxury, and precedents that we established with the brand: an expansive lounge environment with social seating areas and private resting cabins, is anchored by a tea bar, while free-standing suite pavilions are equipped with an array of amenities and resting areas for full-day wellness immersions in complete privacy.

With a front-row seat overlooking the sprawling resort and the property’s iconic saltwater lagoon, the two-level spa spills outside of the base building, with blended indoor/outdoor bathhouses arranged around lushly planted terraces and private gardens surrounding the property’s signature suites. Harnessing the vision of Ian Schrager, the design shifts effortlessly from activated and social settings to private and serene, with pared-down modern esthetic that truly stands out. 

Combining authentic Asian healing traditions with leading global therapies and product lines, the menu combines timeless treatment philosophies and emerging trends, equally reflective of the resort’s aspirational audience and the underlying brand identity.
